note = "Introduction: Lung cancer is a global public health issue
because of its high incidence, prevalence, and mortality.
Its incidence and mortality rate in Spain are bigger among
men, having caused the death of 22,153 people in 2018.
Non-small cell tumors are the most common, especially those
of the lung adenocarcinoma type. Nonspecific symptoms such
as anorexia or asthenia are prevailing. However, many
patients might not present them. The main risk factors are
smoking and COPD. Besides, malnutrition in oncology
patients can exacerbate the patient's condition and
interfere with the efficacy of pharmacological treatments.
Objective: Based on bibliographic research, a Health
Education Program for lung cancer patients being treated in
day hospital has been developed. This program focuses on
the need of proper nutritional care for the patient
undergoing cancer treatment. Methodology: The bibliographic
review is based on the information from several research
databases, books and web pages about lung cancer and its
possible nutritional care strategies. Therefore, and
according to them, a Nutrition Education Program has been
developed. Conclusions: Given the evidence of the
relationship between lung cancer and diet, nursing plays a
major role in improving oncology patient's quality of life.
By offering nutritional tools, it aims to obtain an
adequate nutritional status and avoid adverse effects of
treatment. Key words: "lung cancer", "treatment",
