¿Reinhold Vasters? Tres pinjantes de perrillo procedentes de la subasta del Joyero de la Virgen del Pilar (1870)

Resumen: Este trabajo aborda la polémica iniciada en 1990 desde el British Museum acerca de la legitimidad de tres pinjantes de perrillo de oro, esmaltados y aderezados con piedras preciosas, procedentes del Tesoro del Pilar de Zaragoza que, subastados públicamente en 1870, hoy se encuentran dispersos. Los tres pinjantes se han considerado por la historiografía falsificaciones realizadas hacia 1860; no obstante, la documentación de la Santa Capilla del Pilar demuestra que dos de ellos son genuinas obras del Renacimiento (ca. 1580-1600). Al menos dos falsificadores europeos copiaron piezas originales, lo que plantea la revisión de la historia de la orfebrería a partir de las obras que, con certeza, son legítimas.
This paper covers the controversy raised in 1990 in the British Museum about the authenticity of the three enamelled gold dog pendants, garnished with precious stones, from the Treasury of the Pillar in Saragossa that were publicly auctioned in 1870 and still remain spread. These pendants, were considered fakes manufactured c. 1860 by the historiography. Nevertheless, I can prove that the documentation of the Pillar shows that at least two of them were authentic Renaissance works (c. 1580-1600). At the very least, two European counterfeiters copied genuine works, which raises the revision of the history of goldsmithing from works that are clearly genuine.
