We present the main results of the impact of this activity from the point of view of n = 63 volunteers who participated in it. Using Student’s t-test for related samples, the differences in volunteers’ competencies before (pre-test) and after (post-test) the experience were tested, in order to analyze whether the activity had also exerted an impact on these competencies. Moreover, a correlation analysis was applied between the items for evaluating family participation by the volunteers, volunteer skills, and training, with the aim of testing the relationships between those variables as a result of participation in the experience. Results show that families found that accompaniment improved the quality of life of their children, making them feel loved and accompanied. In addition, the family atmosphere was improved, as did the children’s interest in reading. This mode of training led to greater involvement, motivation, and interest, thereby complying with a transversal axis of the process—community participation. 000099187 540__ $$9info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess$$aby$$uhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/es/ 000099187 590__ $$a3.889$$b2021 000099187 592__ $$a0.664$$b2021 000099187 594__ $$a5.0$$b2021 000099187 591__ $$aENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES$$b57 / 128 = 0.445$$c2021$$dQ2$$eT2 000099187 593__ $$aEnergy Engineering and Power Technology$$c2021$$dQ1 000099187 591__ $$aENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES$$b133 / 279 = 0.477$$c2021$$dQ2$$eT2 000099187 593__ $$aRenewable Energy, Sustainability and the Environment$$c2021$$dQ1 000099187 591__ $$aGREEN & SUSTAINABLE SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY$$b35 / 47 = 0.745$$c2021$$dQ3$$eT3 000099187 593__ $$aManagement, Monitoring, Policy and Law$$c2021$$dQ1 000099187 591__ $$aGREEN & SUSTAINABLE SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY$$b7 / 9 = 0.778$$c2021$$dQ4$$eT3 000099187 593__ $$aGeography, Planning and Development$$c2021$$dQ1 000099187 655_4 $$ainfo:eu-repo/semantics/article$$vinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion 000099187 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0002-2839-7041$$aCortés, A.$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000099187 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0003-4530-9645$$aIñiguez, T.$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000099187 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0002-0100-1449$$aLozano, R.$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000099187 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0001-8473-8114$$aQuílez, A.$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000099187 7102_ $$14009$$2775$$aUniversidad de Zaragoza$$bDpto.
