Characterization and parameters sensitivity analysis of worm gear rolling measurement
Resumen: Gears rolling tests involve multiple error sources due to their consideration as a dynamic measurement. This paper presents an experimental characterization of a single and double-flank rolling tester for worm gears. A methodology is presented to determine the individual repeatability of the complete rolling tester and its components. The high repeatability of the individual and combined test series shows the mechanical reliability of the machine for both types of rolling tests, with error values similar to those of the measuring instruments used in the equipment. Additionally, a local sensitivity analysis quantifies the influence in the rolling parameters of the main error sources identified. In this way, contributions to the measurement uncertainty of the rolling equipment due to variables such as variation of the centre distance, height or perpendicularity between the axes are established.
