Multi-objective optimization for pressure hold integrity testing of membrane filters in wine bottling
Resumen: The reliability and reproducibility of integrity tests for hydrophilic membrane filters are essential to ensure the microbiological stability of wine prior to bottling. This study analyzes the testing methodologies used in the Chilean industry, detecting that the pressure hold method is widely adopted but presents high variability and generates false positives under traditional testing conditions. A robust methodological framework based on multi-objective optimization is proposed, explicitly integrating operational uncertainty and instrumental error in determining the optimal testing parameters. The developed model allows the adjustment of test duration and limits according to the specific characteristics of each operation. Results from industrial validations show that the optimized approach eliminates false positives, significantly reduces measurement variability, and provides greater reliability in integrity control.
