Resumen: This final degree project proposes a literature-based intervention for teaching English as a foreign language in the 5th year of primary education, using The Cook and the King (Julia Donaldson) as the main narrative resource. The proposal is based on communicative language teaching and integrates three complementary methodological pillars: storytelling as a source of understandable and motivating information, cooperative learning to ensure interaction and inclusion, and task-based language teaching as the main framework for organising learning around meaningful outcomes. The intervention is structured in a sequence of seven sessions in which students progressively move from vocabulary activation and overall comprehension of the story to increasingly complex communicative tasks focused on food, healthy habits, and cultural diversity through gastronomy.
