Notas: Short stature in children is a common problem to be considered for appropriate therapy when it is indicated. One of this consist of alterations in the IGF-1R. Mutations affecting this receptor have been reported many times producing a deficit in the child's growth. There is some controversy about the role of polymorphisms affecting IGF-1R as a possible cause of low infant size. Some of theese polymorphisms and mutations and their potential impact on child growth are studied in this work
