Glorificación y olvido de Susana C. Polac. Una escultora en el Teologado de Alcobendas

Resumen: El nombre de la escultora Susana C. Polac figura como colaboradora intermitente en varios eventos y obras clave de la arquitectura española en la segunda mitad del siglo xx. Particularmente relacionada con Miguel Fisac, quien la conoció en la I Bienal Hispanoamericana celebrada en Madrid (1951), esta investigación quiere contribuir a la recuperación de su excepcional figura, mujer y escultora de vanguardia, en un país y unas circunstancias, donde esta condición resultaba una excepción. Para ello se analiza una de sus principales obras, el friso que corona la fachada exterior de la iglesia del teologado de los dominicos de Alcobendas (1955-1960) –dedicado a los mártires dominicos y titulado precisamente Glorificación de los mártires– como ejemplo de integración espiritual, formal y material entre escultura y arquitectura.
The sculptor Susana C. Polac was a recurrent collaborator in several key architectural projects and events in Spain throughout the second half of 20th Century. Specifically related to Miguel Fisac, whom she met at tide first Spanish-American Biennial exhibition in Madrid (1951), this research seeks in rediscover lids exceptional figure; a woman and avant-garde artist in a country and in circumstances in which this condition bids extraordinary. To this end, we will analyse one of her major works. the frieze crowning the exterior facade of the church of the Dominican seminary of Alcobedas (1955-1960), dedicated to the Dominican martyrs, as is evident from) its name - Glorification de los martries (Glorification of Me Martyrs)- an example of the spiritual, formal and material integration between sculpture and architecture.
