Resumen: Civic values training is essential in the geographic education of secondary school students. To address this need, participatory design is proposed as an innovative and effective methodology to promote values such as collaboration, citizen participation and social responsibility, supported by geographic information technologies (GIT). This study shows the results of its implementation in the geography classrooms in the 3rd year of Compulsory SecondaryEducation. Story map is the form to collect the evidences, which enhances digital storytelling by combining maps, texts, images and videos to narrate the teaching-learning process, specifically the implementation of participatory design in educational centres. The participatory design and geographic information technologies (GIT) employed during this process promote the acquisition of spatial, citizenship and digital competencies, bring into line with current educational policies and frameworks of the European Union and UNESCO.
